About R. THiES's Shop

Seattle, WA
Just one of the hundreds of thousands of talented folk in this world

Thanks for visiting my shop - not many people do! I sign my art as 'R. Thies' because it's pronounced: ar-teace.
I live in Seattle, but I'm a native of Texas. I grew up in the Austin area, mainly San Marcos. I also spent a few years in Dallas before moving to the Pacific Northwest, in 2015.
I started doing art shows in November of 2002. My first show was titled, 'Cartoonism' and I've used the term periodically as a title for my art shows, ever since. My last Cartoonism art show was in 2019, a few months before the pandemic began. I sure miss doing art shows.
My work is obviously influenced by comics, comix, and cartoons. "The Big Book of Hell' by Matt Groening is like, my Bible. Meaning that I flip through it occasionally, but never read it entirely. My art is also inspired in varying degrees by Pop Art, Abstract, Cubism, Surrealism, etc.
I have an open-minded approach to creativity, and a good chunk of my art is geared towards an adult audience. I aspire to inspire and make people laugh with my artwork.
