About R. THiES's Shop

Seattle, WA
Just one of the hundreds of bazillions of talented creative folk in this world!

Thanks for visiting my shop - not many people do! I sign my art as 'R. Thies' because it's pronounced: ar-teace.
I live in Seattle, but I'm a native of Texas. I grew up in the Austin area, mainly San Marcos. I also spent a few years in Dallas before moving to the Pacific Northwest, in 2015.
I started doing art shows in November of 2002. My first show was titled, 'Cartoonism' and I've used the term periodically as a title for my art shows, ever since. My last Cartoonism art show was in 2019, before the pandemic.
My work is obviously influenced by comics, comix, and cartoons. "The Big Book of Hell' by Matt Groening is like, my Bible. Meaning that I flip through it occasionally, but never read it entirely. My art is also inspired in varying degrees by Pop Art, Abstract, Cubism, Surrealism, etc.
I have an open-minded approach to creativity, and a good chunk of my art is geared towards an adult audience. I aspire to inspire and make people laugh with my artwork.
